It is a national first-class hardship station, mainly engaged in cloud and fog physics experiments and climate monitoring. In 1975, it was handed over to Ürümqi Meteorological Bureau for management. In 2007, it was renamed as Daxigou National Meteorological Observation Secondary Station according to the requirements of the China Meteorological Administration's business and technical system reform.
