TY - Data T1 - Influence of TEPC Wall on Microdosimetric Measurement and Relative Biological Effectiveness Calculation of Heavy Ion Beam A1 - Xiao Guoqing DO - 10.12072/ncdc.imp.db4030.2023 PY - 2023 DA - 2023-10-17 PB - National Cryosphere Desert Data Center AB - Tissue equivalent proportional counter (TEPC) is widely used in heavy ion beam microdosimetry measurement, which provides basic data for calculating relative biological effects (RBE). In order to study the influence of TEPC wall on heavy ion beam microdosimetry measurement and RBE calculation, ideal tissue equivalent proportional counter (ideal TEPC) was introduced into Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, The microdosimetry of carbon ion beam at different water equivalent depths and the calculation results of RBE. Ideal TEPC and conventional TEPC show that the TEPC wall will cause large radiation field distortion of carbon ion beam and large deviation between the measurement results of TEPC and the calculation results of RBE, The deviation increases with the increase of penetration depth. Considering TEPC wall as a water layer with fixed water equivalent thickness, the influence of TEPC wall on RBE calculation can be offset numerically, but there will be over correction at the back end of the broadened Bragg peak (SOBP). Ideal TEPC combined with MC simulation can effectively avoid the influence of TEPC wall effect and radiation field distortion caused by TEPC wall on heavy ion beam microdosimetry and RBE calculation DB - NCDC UR - http://www.ncdc.ac.cn/portal/metadata/9f88fd75-8aa0-4ff0-bd9b-2442fa2dd90d ER -
